TURNITIN Software @Central Library

 

NITK authority has entrusted the Central Library to generate and certify the SIMILARITY INDEX  Reports for the Theses submitted by the Research Scholars (Ph.D & M.Tech by Research). This is mandatory for these research students to get the certification from the Central Library for the final versions of their theses. The Library uses TURNITIN (Plagiarism Detection Software)  to generate SIMILARITY INDEX reports of theses.

For Faculty: Procedure to Get the Login IDs for Plagiarism Check:

  1. Faculties are requested to send a mail to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to create a Faculty account on TURNITIN (Plagiarism Detection Software)
  2. Once the Central Library, NITK receives the request mail, library will register your email as Faculty account on TURNITIN and later requester will receive an invitation mail from TURNITIN  with an invitation mail.
  3. Kindly note that only email IDs with "@nitk.edu.in" or "@nitk.ac.in" domains will be registered.
  4. Refer the Step1, Step2, Step3 & Step4 user manuals sequentially to set up your TURNITIN account.

 

For Students: Procedure to Get the Similarity Index Report:

  1. Send the Full-text Thesis through e-Mail at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. preferably in DOC or PDF format and keep a copy to your Guide & HoD
  2. Thesis submissions on working day BEFORE 12:00 noon, please visit the periodical section at 3:30 pm with the original Fee Receipt and Self-plagiarism report (Click Here for the format).
  3. Thesis submissions on working day AFTER 12:00 noon, please visit the periodical section next working day at 3:30 pm with the original Fee Receipt and Self-plagiarism report (Click Here for the format).
  4. Please note that the Library provides Similarity Index Reports  of Ph.D Theses  & M.Tech. by Research Report (Final Version only)

  5. [ Please note that for Plagiarism Check, Library will take a minimum of 48 hrs (on working days, Monday to Friday) to certify the similarity index.  In case of any delay due to the unavailability of Asst. Librarian and Librarian, collect certified similarity reports on the next working day. ]

Plagiarism check e-mail request should include the following details:

 

    1. Thesis Title
    2. Name of the Research Scholar
    3. Registration Number
    4. Name of the Guide
